Community Partnership Project

Developed in collaboration with the Centre for Social Impact (Smith School of Business), we have now launched our ‘pilot’ phase of the Community Partnership Project.

The Community Partnership Project provides opportunities for Instructors and students to learn more about the priorities that our community is focusing on. To do this, we’ve put together a database of local community organizations (it’s really just an Excel spreadsheet) and identified how their strategic plans, vision, goals etc. align with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

About the Community Partnership Project

Students – need an idea for a capstone project or an assignment? Do you want to work or volunteer with a local organization? The Community Partnership Project a way for you to find out what local organizations are concerned about, further your connections with the local community, provide you with opportunities to engage in a meaningful way and apply your skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit to real-world issues and challenges facing our community.

Instructors – are you looking to have a discussion with a community organization when developing your curriculum? Do you need ideas on how to develop an assignment or activity that aligns with one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?  Providing students with the opportunity to engage with social impact projects will strengthen students’ academic inquiry, personal and professional development, while contributing to positive social change in the Kingston community.
